Video: Import With Alpha Channel And Sound
It would be cool to have the option to import video with alpha channel and sound.
The video is played or stopped via the behavior menu.
Thank you for this suggestion! Please tell us more about how you would expect to use video in your experiences.
Is there an average length of video that would be optimal?
Hi, you can use an animated gif with a transparent background or an image sequence with PNG's that have alpha combined with an audio behavior.
As we make progress with video import with audio I will keep everyone posted. Thanks!

It's more fun to have a cut out person or animated character interact with the viewer than a rectangular screen.

I´d love to import videos to Adobe Aero. I´m working on a book and it would be great, if I could use Aero like Artivive.

Hi Mark! two questions:
- Will there finally be the possibility to import videos into Aero?
- Have you considered the possibility that the scenes created in Aero can be viewed in a browser?
Thank you very much!
Hi Joseph, thanks for the great tip and for sharing it with the community!

I found a workaround to this. You can use transparent GIF files as alpha videos. Combined with sound, gives an almost identical experience. A free and online gif tool I use is EZgif.com. I've created experiences for it with someone shot on green screen and then removed background. Hope that helps.

Thank you for all the suggestions!
This is something we've got this on our roadmap and are looking into, so stay tuned here for more updates to come!
In the meantime, feel free to send us info on how you would envision using this feature in your workflows.

Is this even still happening? It's been 3 years.

I second this. Not supporting video is a pretty huge drawback. My team is looking into Aero for a city tour/augmented street art experience, and we would love to be able to import video with sound (alpha is a plus). Maybe 30 secs to a few minutes in length?

I'd really like this feature as well. One way I can use it is similar to the Artivive app.
As an example, you can try looking at this illustration:
through the Artivive app to see the AR effect.

when will it be possible to import video clips with alpha channel directly into aero?

Have to echo others: still waiting for video-any ideas?
Aurasma-Hp Reveal was super easy and supported video and custom triggers.
If Adobe can move forward with the comments below Aero could become a great AR App/Program

Any more news re Video with Alpha channel? I would love to be able to import clips directly from Character animator.

Is there any update as far as when this feature may be available or if it will be available? Also, in addition to YouTube, would this include Vimeo?

I'd also love to have a video option, with HP Reveal I was able to upload a short video verbally describing a paleontology exhibit for learners who cannot read printed exhibit text (neurodiverse audiences, younger children, blind / low vision, etc.) -- I think it would be essential to have a video option.

This feature would allow me to export an animated sequence as a video file with audio rather than a bulky png sequence. This feature is available in the Artivive app and increases its usability incredibly. Research shows that users prefer AR video clips of 30-45 seconds duration. So its a big yes please! to video with alpha channel and sound.

Just make it do everything that HP Reveal could do, but with the stability/usability Adobe is known for and you will have a winner. Reveal could do everything - but sadly that product (which was once Aurasma) is gone. Aura is promising, but it has to have the ability to do video, most specifically embed a YouTube video, and it would be pretty viable.

Agree, this won't fly without video - uploadable and playable from URL options would be great

@Jim Holmes ... apols for lateness of response, I've only just spotted your comment from Dec 28 2020 re: my example not working for you.
If you'd like to play around with the working files I popped everything up on GitHub a while back. You can find it all at: https://github.com/franbrennan/thisiswaytoomuchfun
Hope it helps in your quest :)

Support for videos, either played locally or streaming (say from YouTube) would be EXTREMELY helpful. I work in a science museum. We have a huge library of educational videos already--being about to expand their use into AR-enhanced exhibits would be a big big win for us. Please add this support!
