Video: Import With Alpha Channel And Sound
It would be cool to have the option to import video with alpha channel and sound.
The video is played or stopped via the behavior menu.

Thank you for this suggestion! Please tell us more about how you would expect to use video in your experiences.
Is there an average length of video that would be optimal?

Support for videos, either played locally or streaming (say from YouTube) would be EXTREMELY helpful. I work in a science museum. We have a huge library of educational videos already--being about to expand their use into AR-enhanced exhibits would be a big big win for us. Please add this support!

Being able to use a video inside an AR scene would be amazing. Ideally, the video wouldn’t be limited in length, or at least long enough to play a song. I want to select a surface I.e. a wall to have a video set on while there are 3D objects floating around it. Strong video playback within an AR scene would add a whole new dimension of possibility

@frannie - your example doesn't work for me

This is my suggestion too - for example to map a video of software running on a screen - great for virtual walkthroughs - or a video of a speaker on an alpha channel that you could have materialise onto a platform. Similar to how some of the other VR/AR apps like Zappar handle video

It would be useful to be able to implement short videos (2-10mins) in a common formats (ie .mp4) for multimedia journalism. It would allow short video interviews to be embedded into an AR environment.

For very short videos you can use the newly released support for animated GIFs and PNGs.

Yes Please! For product advertising, it would be great to trigger a product video to play in AR next to the trigger image (product shot).

Hi!
I am a marketing worker for a company and we have started to enter the world of augmented reality. I am a loyal Adobe user and I would like to know if there is any way to import and play small videos in Aero. I think that being able to add videos to these files would improve the usability of the application.
Thank you!

Hi there,
Are there any progress updates on this?
18 months, or so, ago I created the following WebAR using A-Frame and AR.js (frameworks which I continue to use primarily because they're cross-platform compatible) plus Photoshop, Character Animator and After Effects to create the content.
WebAR example: https://bit.ly/3lBNd5Y
Hiro Marker to scan: attachedIt would be super-cool to have the facility to use Aero to generate similar and/or more sophisticated/complex stuff in conjunction with being able to dynamically-link content that's been created using other Adobe products in the workflow 🙂
Cheeeeeeeeeeers!

Hi Ben and Chantel, has there been any further up date on when video and animated gifs will be supported?
Thanks!

Totally agree... support for video content is a must and the lack of it (currently, at least) is a pretty major drawback.

Another vote for this feature. Activating a pop-up video frame when tapping a product, for example, would really enhance Aero's value as a marketing tool to enhance trade show booths or facilitate virtual product demos.
Just a few ways I can foresee using video:
- as a picture-in-picture that remains stationary in the corner of the frame while the user interacts with the object.
- as a video frame anchored to an object in 3d space
- as a texture for an object -

I cast a vote in favor of this as well. Delivering video content in AR experiences is one of the number one asks that come from clients.

Absolutely agree. We ONLY use video as an overlay

I too was hoping to use video assets that I use in After effects in Aero, allowing special effects to be used in the AR environment.

I want to add another strong vote to this, video is the main component we use in AR design.

I also echo this sentiment.

I definitely agree, this is a feature I was hoping for in the Desktop release. I've been using the App to show off marketing environments and Trade show booths, video would be a great addition for both my work and future client projects.
