Yeah, there seems to be global illumination with shadows being cast at a fixed depth. Would be nice to have that lighting system editable in either Aero or Dimension.

From my experience thus far, it does not recognize imported lighting or it bypasses them and uses it’s own.

There are a few ways to incorporate markers/images as AR triggers, but we must first assume that our Aero AR experiences can be deployed as either a web app and called using the internet but could run into loading issues due to size (not as spontaneous), or as a preinstalled app, which can be called without an internet connection with immediate activation.

All options should act as a positional anchor for the experiences, understanding the end users’ relative position.

    1. QR codes:
A simple marker that can callout a URL/activate the AR from web app or installed app.

I can really use this in an art gallery showcasing AR either up on a wall or on a table top.

QR code markers could be added through the app from the camera roll, then apply behaviors and properties on how the end user will view your experience.

    2. Logos:
Many applications are already capable of incorporating branding as AR triggers. This is great for creators and advertisers to use.

It would be helpful to simply add a logo trigger right in the app assisted with computer vision to recognize the design as the trigger.

    3. Images:
A lot more complicated, but currently achieved by many AR applications.

Printed material, photos and signage could be pushed to a computer vision analyzer for triggering. The AR experiences can be mapped to scale to fit within the print design perfect for marketing campaigns or art gallery purposes. It would also work great for way finding.

Having the added ability to incorporate a UI to connect to websites or some sort of point of sale would be great, but that’s a separate request.

    4. 3D objects:
This could still be science fiction, but with the dual cameras and 3D depth sensors on mobile devices now, 3D objects could act as triggers for AR experiences.

I could immediately use this for marketing and presentation purposes for my clients, or see this used in classrooms and even in art galleries.

    5. Beacons:
Beacons that talk to our devices could trigger AR based on proximity. Could the source of the beacon also be a positional anchor for the experience?

This could be handy in airports or other public space. Way finding AR could be assisted by beacons. Customer service help or point of sales could benefit from this subtle trigger application.

Having user interactivity would be ideal in this application.
